SCOTTSDALE, AZ James Anthony Russo Sr., (Jim), passed away at his home in Scottsdale, Arizona, on May 13 at the age of 92. Born on July 6, 1932, in Stamford, Connecticut, to the late Rose Russo, Jim was a longtime resident of Connecticut before recently moving to Scottsdale. A graduate of Stamford High School, Jim served in the US Army during the Korean War, where he was Company Clerk, promoted to Corporal, and selected for the US Army golf team where he played throughout Europe. He dedicated 47 years to his career as Purchasing Manager at Hatch & Bailey and New Canaan Lumber Company, where he was known for his hard work, dedication, and strong aptitude for numbers. In retirement, he continued to stay active working at Oak Hills Golf Club. Jim was an accomplished scratch golfer, winning Golf Championships at Hubbard Heights Golf Club in Stamford and at Oak Hills in Norwalk. He was a devoted fan of golf and tennis and enjoyed watching UCONN men's and women's basketball. He also enjoyed spending time at the casino. A loving husband of 61 years to Georgina Russo, Jim was a devoted father to Robin (Dave), Jim Jr. (Tracy), and Christine (Dan), and father-in-law to Guy. He was a cherished "Papa" to his grandchildren: David, Lauren (Pete), Christopher, Thomas (Taylor), Kelly (Greg), James (Taylor), Andrew (Kaisa), Daniel, and Sam, and great-grandfather to Colton, Oakley, Camille, Isabella, and Leo. Jim was preceded in death by his daughter, Kimberly Cirillo. Donations in her memory may be made to Sloan Kettering Memorial Hospital. He will be remembered as a kind, generous and devoted husband, father, papa, and friend. He left us with a lot of laughs and a huge hole in our hearts and will be forever missed. Funeral Mass: Monday, July 14th 2025 - 10:30 AM - St Jerome Catholic Church - Norwalk 23 Half Mile Road, Norwalk, CT 06851 A reception to celebrate Jim's life will follow at the Butler residence. Entombment will be held privately at Willowbrook Cemetery, 395 Main Street, Westport, CT.
