Obituary of David S. Levitman

FAIRFIELD, CONN David Sahr Levitman, born February 13, 1935, in Far Rockaway, NY, died peacefully on July 23, 2025. A devoted husband to Peggy Freedman Levitman, cherished father to Anne Levitman Greenberg-his "mamala"-and doting grandfather to Rachel and Sydney Greenberg, he also adored his dog, Mack. A trained classical pianist, David found joy in music, cherishing Metropolitan Opera season tickets and his Lotus Club membership since 1975. As a New York City school principal, he guided students with dedication, bolstered by an NYU law degree. Summers at his Colby Hill home in Madison, NH, brought him peace and happiness. Survived by Peggy, Anne, son-in-law Tony, granddaughters Rachel and Sydney, and Mack, David's legacy of love, friendship and tchotchkes endures. Interment will be held privately, at the convenience of the family, in Willowbrook Cemetery, 395 Main Street, Westport. The Abraham Green & Son Funeral Home of Fairfield is directing arrangements.
