Obituary of Dr. Martin P. Sachs

WESTPORT, CONN Dr. Martin P. Sachs, formerly of Westport, currently of University Park, Florida, passed away peacefully at the age of ninety-three. The son of Charles and Jean Sachs, Martin was raised lovingly by his aunt and uncle, Claire and George Meltzer, alongside his brother, Michael. Martin went to Erasmus High School in Brooklyn, NY, where he was President of his class and Captain of the track team. From there, he went on to his beloved Tufts University where he was admitted to a pioneering new program that combined undergraduate studies with dental school enabling him to earn his DMD in just five years. All the while, he continued his passion for running as a Varsity athlete on the Jumbo track. After Tufts, Martin proudly served his country as an officer in the Navy, stationed at the Marine base on Parris Island in South Carolina. From there, he moved to Westport and opened a private dental practice in neighboring Wilton, where he served the surrounding community for nearly sixty years. His love of the profession and deep compassion enabled him to share unique bonds with his patients and their families . Martin was a consummate gentleman-highly intelligent, perpetually optimistic, and incredibly generous and philanthropic. His favorite pastime was the stock market which led to countless hours of watching the ticker tape and professing that his success was all about "luck and intuition." Martin traveled the world in his signature blue blazer and yellow tie. He lived and loved life to its fullest, believing it was absolutely "beau-T-ful." He is survived by his devoted wife, Ronnie, his loving daughter Tracy, his son, Gary (Leslie), his daughter, Debra, his brother, Michael, and his grandchildren Jake (Huntleigh) and Nina. He is also survived by his "acquired family", Staci, Daniel, and Casey, along with Jill, Ken, Matt, and Connor, all of whom adored him for nearly 25 years. A funeral service took place on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at Abraham L. Green and Son Funeral Home, 88 Beach Rd., Fairfield. Interment followed at Willowbrook Cemetery, 395 Main St., Westport, CT.
