YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, NY
Dr. Faramarz "Franz" Nazem, 82, of Yorktown Heights, New York, passed away on November 5, 2025. He was born in Rasht, Iran, on January 22, 1943 to the late Asfar (Hesseri) and Hassan Nazem.
Faramarz came to the United States for academic study, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering in 1968 from The Ohio State University and a PhD from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri in 1973. He conducted post-graduate work at the University of Wisconsin Madison from 1973-1975, after which he joined Union Carbide Corporation as a research scientist, where he worked on and received multiple patents for his work. He later founded a fund of funds with his older brother, Fereydoun.
Faramarz enjoyed reading, poetry, music, soccer, tennis, discussing politics, going to his granddaughters' soccer games, watching the Ohio State Buckeyes football games and being in nature. Above all else, he loved spending time with his family.
Faramarz was a loving and devoted husband, and a proud father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Linda, daughter Rika Nazem, son, Dariush (Randi) Nazem, granddaughters Camryn and Ava Nazem, brothers Fereydoun (Susie) Nazem and Firooz (Zari) Nazem, and sister Farideh (Parvis, dec.) Nazem-Latefi, sister-in-law Ronda (Dan) Barford, brothers-in-law, C.J. (Maggie) Delfino, and Dennis (Tracy) Delfino, as well as many nieces and nephews, and grand nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Farhad Nazem, and brother-in-law, Parvis Latefi.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 14, 2025 at 11:30AM in Willowbrook Cemetery, 395 Main Street, Westport, Conn.
The A.J. Collins Funeral Home of Norwalk, Conn is directing the arrangements.
