NORWALK, CONN
Ruby Dell (Towles) Macon entered into eternal life on Monday, June 15, 2026, at Norwalk Hospital. Ruby was born on June 15, 1939, in Notasulga, Alabama to the late Beatrice Nelson Hardy and Charlie Ben Towles. She was the 2nd oldest of 5 children and was seen as the oldest of the siblings because of her dependability, as well as for her caring nature.
Ruby attended primary school and graduated from Tuskegee High School in 1957 where she was a standout basketball player. Ruby relocated to Pound Ridge, NY in her early twenties before settling into the Norwalk, CT area. Once in Norwalk, Ruby found employment at Elegant Heir and Dietz and Company and was a faithful employee from 1964 - 1981. She then became gainfully employed at Vectron Electronics from 1981 - 1999. When Vectron Electronics went out of business, she attended and received a Certificate for computers from Benjamin Franklin School and began working at Kohls, Norwalk, where she remained until she retired after twenty years of service.
Ruby was a devoted mother and family member who loved her family unconditionally. She loved the Lord and often spoke of the goodness of God and her personal relationship with Him. She often listened to her gospel music while cooking for her family and doing household chores.
Ruby was an avid traveler and enjoyed seeing and experiencing new places. She often said that she has gone everywhere she wanted to go except Rome, Italy. Ruby would take yearly vacations to the South to visit with family and to clean her mother's grave in Alabama. Other activities that Ruby loved included gardening, late night talks on the phone, and attending church services. She had a sweet tooth and a love for junk food that she would not hesitate to offer to others. She also loved shopping and had a flair for fashion.
She leaves to cherish her memories: siblings Lula Battle, Norwalk, CT and Larry Towles, Notasulga, Alabama; children Darrell Macon (Tracie) and J. Rita Macon (Travis); goddaughter, Felicia Russell Stewart; godson, Andre Morgan; niece/cousin, Theresa Moore; brother/cousin Jim Ware; grandchildren, Jovan Harris, Torey Blakes, Rasean Macon, LaDreama Macon, LaDraya Macon, Ronte Macon, and Dartanya Macon; numerous great and great- great grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by her mother, Beatrice Nelson Hardy; father, Charlie Ben Towles; stepmother, Annie Towles; longtime companion, Cornelius Keitt; brothers J.D. Towles and Charles Towles; and grandchildren, Ricky Blakes and Germanicus Edwards.
Services will be held on Friday, June 26, 2026.
