Chi Han Chyung, beloved husband of Noriko (Taniguchi) Chyung, passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, on June 27, 2026, at the age of 93.
He was born in Seoul, Korea, on January 7, 1933, to the late Do Soon and Kim Bok (Soon) Chyung. After high school, Chi Han proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War.
In 1957, he earned his BS at Kansas Wesleyan University, followed by an MBA at Michigan State University in 1960. He continued with post graduate work at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1961. His first professional appointment was an Operations Analyst in the Chevrolet Division of General Motors Corporation as Economist. Two years later, he became Senior Analyst in the Marketing Division of International Minerals and Chemical Corporation, in 1966, he acquired the post of Manager of Market Information and planning with Gulf Western Industries, subsequently joining American Standard as Director of Market Planning and Development in 1968.
Since 1971, he has held the appointment of President of Oxytech Corporation. Mr. Chyung is the author of several articles and papers: "The Function, Procedure and Application of Sales Forecasting", "The Computer Applications in Marketing Science and Marketing Strategy", "International Market Distribution Simulation", "Market Information and Planning Function for a multi-product-market Company" and "Marketing: Future Prospects and Management Challenge". He is a member of the American Marketing Association, the American Chemical Society, the National Association of Corporate Planning and the institute of Management Service. His profession has frequently taken him to Japan, Korea, and other countries in the far east, for management consultancy assignments and lecturing in seminars to various professional groups. He was awarded the scholastic honorary of Beta Gamma Sigma in 1959. He is a member of Shore Haven Country Club and, in his spare time, enjoyed sports, photography and music.
In addition to his wife, Chi Han is survived by his children: Eric Chyung and Dana Chyung; as well as his sister, Dr. Chi Wha (Chyung) Arpino.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at the Magner Funeral Home from 5-8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday July 3, 2026, at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 229 Danbury Rd., Wilton, CT 06897. Burial will follow immediately after church at Willowbrook Cemetery, 395 Main St., Westport, CT.
