Obituary of Allen Hale

ALBANY, NY Allen Hale, of Albany, NY, passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2026. Born in Bridgeport, CT, he was the son of the late George William and Grace Allen Hale of Westport, CT. Allen was predeceased by both his sister Susan Jane Hale and his first wife Ellen McElroy. A graduate of Tufts University and The New School in NYC, Allen was a psychologist working as a consultant for Dunlap and Associates of Stamford, CT in the field of human factors engineering and behavior analysis. His last consulting assignment was with the US Department of Navy for several years studying the relationship between crew performance and ship design on Aegis Missile Cruisers. Before moving to Albany, Allen and his wife, Jane Savasta Hale, lived on Sleepy Hollow Lake in Athens, NY, traveling during the winter months to their vacation home in Windham, NY, which they shared with her children Barbara Martinson (William) of North Merrick, NY, Anthony Savasta (Melissa Scarey Lane) of Windham, NY, and Diane Hawley (Robert) of Canton, MA as well as her grandchildren Brian and Timothy Martinson, Nina, Anthony and Dante Savasta and Kevin Hawley. After his retirement, it was in Windham that Allen hosted a weekly radio show on WRIP for ten years called Jazz in the Catskills, Bop and Beyond. Family and friends may gather at St. Patrick's Church, 24 N Washington St, Athens on Friday, March 20th from 11:00 - 12:00 pm. A Memorial Mass will then be celebrated at 12:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick's Church, 24 N Washington St, Athens 12015. Interment will be held on Monday, July 6, 2026 at 11:00AM in Willowbrook Cemetery, 395 Main Street, Westport, Conn.
