Obituary of Fran Pollak

WESTPORT, CONN Anna Frances "Fran" Pollak passed away on July 21st at the age of 87. Born in the Bronx in 1939, she moved to Westport, CT. at a very young age with her family. After she graduated from Staples High School class of 1957, she went on to complete Berkeley Secretarial School, New York City. Fran then started her career at Perkin Elmer Corporation, Norwalk with work pertaining to the NASA Space Program and held top secret security clearance. This led to her next position at AMF Company in Stamford, CT as an executive secretary. It was there she met and married her husband of 52 years Philip. While raising her 3 children, Fran served as the Arts Calendar Editor for the Bridgeport Post, covering the arts events of Fairfield County for 7 years. Fran loved books and literature and spent her next 37 years working for Mews Books International Literary Agency with Save Westport Now's Chairman Sidney Kramer, owner of the iconic Remarkable Bookshop. Her work involved screening and circulating manuscripts, earning her the title of literary agent and a spot in the Literary Marketplace Directory. Fran and Phil traveled the world but she was happiest gardening in her backyard, visiting the Metropolitan Museum of Art or reading at Old Mill Beach. She loved her family, friends, neighbors and Westport and will be dearly missed. Fran is survived by her children Philip Lee Pollak, John Pollak, and Linda (Louie) Wins; granddaughters Holly (Evan) Arsineau and Chelsea (Brandon) Lorah ; great grandson Leighton Lorah and sisters Palma (Bruno) Manes and Antoinette (Paul) Wrubel, along with numerous nieces and nephews. The service is to be held at 10 am Saturday August 1, 2026 at Assumption Church, Westport CT. Interment will be held privately in Willowbrook Cemetery, 395 Main Street, Westport. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Westport EMS.
