Obituary of Robert J. Corso

Please share a memory of Robert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
WESTPORT, CONN Robert “Bob” J. Corso, 67, of Westport, Connecticut, passed away on February 12, 2024 at his home, after a battle with cancer. Bob, son of the late Louise and David Corso, was born in New Haven on May 30, 1956 and raised in nearby Hamden, Connecticut. After graduating from Notre Dame High School in West Haven, Bob opted for a school close to home in order to support his ailing father. He attended Fairfield University where he excelled in accounting and business management. Bob was a founding member of the university’s prestigious Accounting Club. During college, he also developed strong ties to the towns of Fairfield and Westport, eventually settling into these places for most of his adult life. Following his graduation, he received offers from all of the big eight accounting firms at the time. He ultimately joined Arthur Andersen, initially in a junior position before quickly rising to the rank of partner. After a brief mid-career break to travel and to raise his young son, he joined the investment bank Houlihan Lokey, and finally Alvarez and Marsal, the global professional services firm, as a Managing Director. His accounting and valuation experience spanned over four decades, and his clients included leading private equity firms. When Bob welcomed his son Casey in 2003, it completed his family. Bob so enjoyed being a father and was a constant presence at his son’s sporting events and school concerts. Bob was also a dedicated Dallas Cowboys and Boston Red Sox and Celtics fan, rooting for these teams and watching their games in good years and bad. In addition to watching sports, he loved to travel, especially to Newport, Rhode Island, and Sanibel Island, Florida, which he visited almost every year. Bob was also an active and long-time member of the Shorehaven Golf Club, first joining the community in 1993. However, Bob’s favorite activity was spending time with his son, from their rounds of golf at Shorehaven to their road trip down the Pacific Coast Highway. Bob is survived by his beloved son Casey and his sister, Cheryl, as well as nieces, Lindsay and Erin (Jeremy) and a nephew Tim (Caroline), grandnieces Eleanor, Lillian, and Clara, numerous cousins, and many friends. Bob will also be missed by his chocolate Labrador Retriever, Cocoa. Interment will be held privately at Willowbrook Cemetery, 395 Main Street, Westport. The Harding's of Westport is directing the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Fairfield University (https://www.fairfield.edu/alumni-and-friends/support-fairfield/how-to-give/index.html) or to Memorial Sloan Kettering, where donations can be made in memory of Bob. To do this, Memorial Sloan Kettering (MSKCC) recommends making donations to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center Office of Development at P.O. Box 27106, New York, NY 10087. Donations may be made out to “Memorial Sloan Kettering” with Bob listed in the memo line of the check.
