Obituary of Dudley H. Fay, III
WESTON, CONN
Dudley H. Fay III of Weston died Saturdat, January 19, 2019 at home. He was 64.
Born in Washington D.C., his early years were spent in many places from Encino, California to Toronto, Canada but “home” for him was always anchored in Weston where he and Maureen resided.
He graduated from Weston High School, and attended Nathaniel Hawthorne College and Northeastern University.
His 40-year career in marketing procurement and production management spanned several companies including Vogt/Wein and Marketing Corporation of America in Westport, and ultimately Diageo North America where he retired in 2017.
A man of many names (Chip, Hopper, Da, Fud-a-dud), his charm and grace attracted many friends who loved him, visited him, and lifted his and Maureen’s spirits during his courageous battle with ALS.
His interests included driving fast cars in his early days, golf, jet and snow skiing, cooking, traveling, and gathering with friends at the Black Duck in Westport.
He looked forward to his annual trip to Cape Cod with Maureen, their dogs Jackie and Otis, and their dear friends Mary and Diane. His deep devotion to his wife Maureen, his sisters and the rest of his family was limitless.
His gentle nature, infectious laugh, twinkling eyes, heroic courage and good humor will be greatly missed by all. He will be forever in our prayers. He will be forever in our hearts.
He is survived by his wife, Maureen Ross Fay, his three sisters, Susan Fay of Fairfield, Julie Fay of Montpeyroux, France, Cindy Fay of Trumbull, and Cindy’s husband Jim Jarboe. He is also survived by his Uncle Jim Preston and his sister- and brother-in-law Marci and Tim Easterbrook. Hd was a devoted uncle to his nine nieces and nephews who loved him dearly, Preston (Jamie) Jarboe, Kevin Jarboe, Jeffrey Jarboe, Zoe Fay-Stindt, Ruth Easterbrook, Rose Easterbrook, Joseph Easterbrook, Nicholas Easterbrook and Madalene Easterbrook. He was predeceased by his loving parents, Dudley H. Fay Jr. and Jean Preston Fay.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Dudley at mass of Christian burial on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at 11 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi, 35 Norfield Road, Weston. The burial will be held privately here at Willowbrook Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Dudley’s memory to The ALS Association Connecticut Chapter, 4 Oxford Road, Unit E4, Milford, CT 06460.
The family thanks the Visiting Nurse and Hospice of Fairfield County for their care and wonderful staff as well at the ALS Association.
