Obituary of Joan Blumenfeld
Joan W. Blumenfeld of Westport died July 22. She was 85.
She lived in Westport for 60 years, where her children, Karen, Eric and Laurie, grew up.
While raising her children, she was committed to improving the Westport public schools. Later, as a geriatric care manager, she made a difference professionally and personally in the lives of older adults and their families.
She was devoted to her children; her brother Dick and sister-in-law Roberta; her children-in-law; grandchildren; and extended family. She was a friend to many and loved by all.
She was predeceased by her parents, Dorothy and Mark Mason, and her long-time companion, Sam Flaks.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 30 at 11 a.m.at the Abraham L. Green and Son Funeral Home, 88 Beach Road, Fairfield.
Entombment will be held privately here at Willowbrook Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Borrow My Glasses, LLC, to support Joan’s public legacy—a film about palliative care.
