BRIDGEPORT, CONN
Cynthia Ann Ashley Derry, 65 of Bridgeport, CT entered eternal rest on Tuesday, June 8, 2021, at St. Vincent’s Medical Center, Bridgeport, CT. She was the wife of the late Minister James A. Derry, Sr.
Cynthia Ann Ashley Derry was born on July 9, 1955, to Matthew Ashley Sr. and Ruth (Fuller) Ashley. She was educated in the Norwalk Public Schools, graduating from Brien McMahon High School in 1973. Cindy attended Norwalk Community Technical College where she received an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education. Cindy also attended Housatonic Community College and University of Bridgeport to further her career. She was a member of Strait Gate the Church at Westchester, Mamaroneck, NY, at the time of her passing. Cindy served as a Deacon, Head of Pastoral Care, Intercessory Prayer Team, and member of the Judah Choral to name a few.
Cindy loved life. But more than life, Cindy loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Cindy was a living, walking epistle for the unbeliever to look upon her life and see the love of God. Cindy took pride in taking care of children and was the owner/operator of Cindy’s Rainbow Group, Inc. At the time of her passing Cindy was a Senior Adult Day Care provider at Star Inc. Norwalk, CT. Cindy loved singing. She sang in various church and community choirs, she loved baking, traveling, reading, and collecting turtle figurines.
In addition to her husband, Cindy was predeceased by her parents, Matthew and Ruth Fuller, In-laws Eugene and Elizabeth Derry, sister-in-law Barbara Sherwood, sister-in-law Greta Ashley, and her grandson James A. Derry III. Cindy leaves to cherish her memory a daughter Shannon (Will) Davis (Landsdale, PA), two sons James A. Derry Jr. (Norwalk, CT) and Matthew E. Derry (Bridgeport, CT), three brothers Matthew Ashley (NC), Michael (Evette) Ashley (GA), Corey (Jessica) Ashley (CT), five sisters Ruth (Richard) Perry (CT), Patricia (Melvin) McCrea (CT), Christine (Ronald) Dixon (NC), Leslie (Gary) Davis (CT), Vicky Ashley (CT), brothers-in-law Eugene Derry Jr., Leroy Derry Sr. (CT), Anthony Sherwood (GA), sisters-in-law Debra Jackson (GA), Elizabeth (Lil) Derry and Nicole Derry (CT). Three grandchildren Ashley R. Davis, W. Ashton Davis, Ryan A. Davis. (PA). Cindy also leaves a host of Godchildren, uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Burial will be held on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at 12:00PM at Willowbrook Cemetery, 395 Main Street, Westport.
