NORWALK, CONN
Jerome "Jerry" Frank died on Sunday, November 7, at home in Norwalk, CT, surrounded by his family. He was 89.
An incredibly kind and generous man, Jerry dearly loved his wife, Carol, and two children, Paul and Lisa. He never missed an opportunity to spend time with them, whether it was going out for their birthdays or enjoying Sunday brunch at home.
Jerry had many friends and interests. He traveled the world with Carol and was especially fond of cruises and scuba diving. He attended car and air shows with Paul and jazz concerts with Lisa. He also had a green thumb. His back porch was filled with beautiful flowers and plants. With his wonderful sense of humor, he loved to tell jokes and stories.
Born in Bridgeport, CT, to Harry and Anna Frank, Jerry had two sisters, Gertrude and Natalie, and a brother, Marvin. He developed a strong work ethic as a child, helping out at his father's gas station and later parking cars at a country club.
Jerry majored in finance at the University of Bridgeport, where he met Carol. They married in 1954. Jerry truly loved his country, enlisting in the Army after college and spending several years in Korea. When he returned, he and Carol lived in Jamaica, NY, for several years before settling in Norwalk. He had a passion for numbers and held several accounting jobs throughout his career.
The community spirit was strong in Jerry. He was a Cub Scouts Cubmaster and helped make sure buildings in Norwalk were ADA compliant. He also volunteered every year at the Tour de Pink, a charity bike ride that Lisa co-founded.
Jerry is survived by Carol, Paul, his son-in-law Steve, and Chester, the family dog. He was pre-deceased by Lisa, his parents and siblings.
A funeral service for Jerry will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 16, at Temple Shalom, 259 Richards Avenue in Norwalk, CT. Burial will follow at Willowbrook Cemetery, 395 Main Street in Westport, CT.
