Obituary of Julius J. Balasa

NORWALK, CONN

Julius J. Balasa, Sr. age 91 of Norwalk, passed away peacefully on November 30, 2017, surrounded by his loving family.  He was born on July 3, 1926, son of the late Alexander and Rose (Baloug) Balasa of Bridgeport, CT.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Edna (Audley) Balasa; his loving children:  Janet Porter and her husband Bert of Norwalk, Jay Balasa and his girlfriend Westly Flora (Lily) of Norwalk, Wendy Wannagot and her boyfriend Robert Sabre of Fairfield, Jeff Balasa and his girlfriend Doreen Como of Norwalk; his loving grandchildren:  Kimberly Parisi and her husband Greg of Monroe, Shannon Wannagot and her fiancé Rob O’Loughlin of Enfield, Keith Porter of Norwalk, Jessica Balasa of Norwalk; his many nieces and nephews; and his long-time friend Steve Bartek.  He was predeceased by his sisters: Rose Balasa and Ann Szur, and his brothers: John Balasa and Alexander Balasa.

Julius (Jules) was born and raised in Bridgeport and began his career as a Supervisor for Dictaphone Company.  His life long dream to repair automobiles became a reality in 1953 when he purchased an auto body shop in Norwalk.  He renamed the business Parkway Auto Body Shop and has been a fixture there for 64 years, opening and closing every day.  Over the years he formed many wonderful relationships with his customers, staff at car dealerships, and automotive suppliers.   His business was his life and that’s where you could always find him.  Retirement was out of the question.  In his younger years he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and vacationing in his motor home.  We shared many laughs from the stories that were told after those outings.  We will miss him dearly and will forever hold him in our hearts.

Friends may call Monday, December 4, 2017 from 4 to 8pm at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk, CT. 

Burial will be private here in Willowbrook Cemetery.
