Obituary of Edwin T. Gallant

Please share a memory of Edwin to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

WESTPORT, CONN

Edwin T. Gallant of Westport died Thursday, November 1, 2018, after a long battle with cancer. He was 75.

He was born and raised in Detroit, the son of the late Theodore and Bernice Gallant.

After college, he served in the Army Reserves and then began a long and successful career with Levi Strauss & Co.

His hard work and dedication brought him to Washington D.C., where he met his wife Leslie. There they began a marriage that lasted over 40 years.

He and Leslie moved to Westport where they started a family. He was active in many aspects of the community. Most notably, he served as chairman of the Parish Council at St. Francis of Assisi Church, contributed to the Westport Soccer Association, and served as a volunteer EMT.

He was a wonderful man who cared about being a good person. He was honest, direct, thoughtful, and a devout Catholic. As a true gentleman, he would always hold open a door and was quick to help a neighbor in need. He will be missed dearly.

He is survived by his wife Leslie, two sons Ted and Charlie, his brother Charles and his wife Elaine.

A service for Ed will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2018 at 10:00AM at St Francis of Assisi Church in Weston. A luncheon will follow at noon at the Fairfield County Hunt Club in Westport.

His burial will be held privately here at Willowbrook Cemetery, Westport.

In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the American Cancer Society.

The Hardings of Westport are directing the arrangements.
