STAMFORD, CONN Marie Georgette (Gubitose) Iaco, of Stamford, passed away peacefully on the afternoon of Tuesday, March 15, 2022. Marie was born in Coventry, VT on June 20, 1931 and was the daughter of the late Leonce Desbiens and Alice Vezina Desbiens. Marie was 90 years old at the time of her passing. Marie was a mother of six children who besides being a dedicated caregiver and loving wife, she held multiple positions as a bookkeeper in Greenwich and Stamford before retiring. She loved her family, dancing, shopping, walking and was an avid reader. Marie is survived by her five children, Linda Meija (Pete Rijos) of Stratford, William Gubitose (Justine) of Norwalk, Mark Gubitose (Joanne) of Mass, Elaine Sciarretta (Leo) of Weston and Carol Anderson (John) of Middletown; eight grandchildren, Patricia, William Jr., Mark Jr., Jennifer, Amber, Michael, Alyssa and Mia; four great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Sabrina, Cole and Katrina; her sister, Germaine Meilach (Michael) of Florida; and her brother Wilfred Bindler-Desbiens (Martine). In addition to her parents, Leonce and Alice Desbiens, Marie was predeceased by her beloved husband, Anthony Iaco, in 2005 and brother, Raymond Desbiens. Family and friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT 06902 on Saturday, March 19th, 2022 from 10:00AM to 12:00PM with a prayer service at the parlor beginning at noon. The entombment will immediately follow the service at Willowbrook Cemetery in Westport.
