Obituary of Hermoine H. Wickenden

TUCKAHOE, NY Hermione Hillman Wickenden, a resident of Weston and Westport for nearly 60 years, died in Tuckahoe, NY on April 25, at age 95. Born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on June 22, 1926, "Hermie" graduated from Smith College in 1948 with a BA in English and received her MS in Library Sciences from Southern Connecticut State University in 1969. She was a librarian at Staples High School in Westport and, for more than 25 years, was the librarian for the Weston Middle School before retiring in 1993. Hermie was an avid tennis player, loved getting together with friends and family, and served as a volunteer tutoring immigrants. She is survived by her daughter Dorothy Wickenden; sons David and Peter; grandson Andrew; and granddaughters Sarah, Rebecca, and Anna. Hermie was predeceased by her husband, Dan Wickenden, of Weston. A memorial service will be held on June 11, 2022, at 11:00 am at The Unitarian Church in Westport, 10 Lyons Plains Rd., Westport. A private burial will be held at Willowbrook Cemetery, 395 Main Street, Westport. Donations may be made in her name for research with The Alzheimer's Association.
