Obituary of Anthony G. Santomauro, M.D.

FAIRFIELD, CONN Anthony G. Santomauro, MD, age 77, of Fairfield, passed away peacefully in his home on June 21, 2022. Born in New York City, he was the son of the late William and Louisa Cirignano Santomauro. Dr. Santomauro was a graduate of Saint John University and Columbia University, where he received his Medical Doctorate. He did his residency at New York Presbyterian Hospital/ Columbia University Medical Center, and later proudly served as a Major in the United States Air Force. Returning home, he settled in the Bridgeport area, and was grateful for a long success career as an OB/GYN. Dr. Santomauro specialized in infertility, and helped numerous couples come to know the joy of parenthood. A Devout Catholic, he was a longtime parishioner of Saint Luke Church, and found great personal satisfaction throughout his life in assisting those in need. Dr. Santomauro was very involved in the art community. He was a member of the Salamagundi Club in New York City, as well as, the Art Place in Fairfield, and the Westport Art Guild. His memory will be cherished by his devoted spouse Jeffrey Hoffman and many dear friends. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 4 to 8 PM in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center. His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 2 PM in Saint Luke Church 49 North Turkey Hill Road, Westport. Entombment with Military Honors will follow in Willowbrook Cemetery, Westport.
