Obituary of Zexiong Zhou

NORWALK, CONN “Beloved Husband, Father and Father-in-law” Zexiong Zhou, born on April 24, 1955 in Guangzhou City, China, was taken from us on September 4th, 2022 after days of complications from surgery, with his wife, daughter and son-in-law by his bedside. Zexiong began his career in China as a technician with the Hua Nan Sewing Machine Import and Export Co., a well-known machinery company in the city in its day. He moved to Trinidad and Tobago with his wife and daughter in 1991 to be with relatives in Trinidad. Starting a new life was not easy, especially in a new country speaking a foreign language, but the hope was to bring a bright future for the family with a new beginning. During the first few years in Trinidad, he and his wife worked in various restaurants to gain experience and saved enough money to open their own family restaurant. As a result of the long hours and tremendous hard work, he and his wife successfully operated 3 restaurants over the years. After living in Trinidad for 26 years, he and his wife retired and moved to Norwalk, CT to be close to their daughter and son-in-law. Zexiong was looking forward to retirement and enjoyed visiting numerous scenic parks in the area and long walks on the beach with his wife. He also enjoyed long drives to get to know Connecticut and New York, going for Dim Sum in Queens, Brooklyn, and Manhattan, and spending time with his daughter and son-in-law. He had a witty sense of humor and enjoyed long conversations with close friends and family about the topics and interests that he was passionate about including history, world news, military, and world politics. Zexiong is survived by his wife, Qixia Lin, his daughter Yanna Zhou Hebel, his son-in-law, Christopher Hebel, and his many relatives and friends across the country and around the world. Friends are invited to greet the family at Raymond Funeral Home, 5 East Wall Street in Historic Norwalk on Friday September 16, 2022 from 9:30 am until Noon with a prayer service at 11:30 am. Burial in Willowbrook Cemetery in Westport, CT will Follow.
