Dr. Amy Crane Sloditskie, age 42, of Westport passed away on March 13, 2022 in her home surrounded by her loving family. She waged a courageous battle against cancer. Amy touched many people's lives with her positivity, humor, and intellect. She lived her life to the fullest.
Amy was born on September 20, 1979 in Norwalk. She was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, aunt, and friend. She is survived by the love of her life, husband Michael, her bundle of sheer joy, Charlie, and stepchildren Taylor, Michael, and Amanda, whom she loved as her own. She was raised by her mother Anne Wagner Haymon and step father “Timbo” Haymon along with her Father, Jeff Crane and step-mother Grace Mauzy of Park City, Utah. Amy is also survived by her half sisters, Janet, Jamie, Jeanee, and Jilly, brother and sister-in-law Matthew and Tami Wresien; along with many nieces and a nephew. Her surviving Aunts and Uncles include Gail and Tom Campbell, Rob and Zoe Wagner, Kathy and Walter Kruthaudpt, Barbara and Phil Moscato, Sue Anne Crane, and Jennifer Miller in addition to many cousins. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Amy attended Westport Public Schools, University of Maryland undergraduate, and received her Medical Degree from Georgetown University. Amy then went on to complete her residency and fellowship at New York Presbyterian Hospital, Cornell Weill. Upon completion she started her professional career as an Attending Cardiac Anesthesiology physician at Cornell Weill. Wanting to be closer to home, she moved to Stamford Hospital in Connecticut where she became a partner in the Anesthesiology Department.
Everyone who crossed paths with Amy knew her to have a gracious heart who welcomed family, friends, and co-workers into her home and life. In Amy’s spare time, she loved to travel, and attended music festivals of all kinds. She could often be seen dancing around to the tunes of Dave Matthews and Guns and Roses with a glass of wine held high. She was an avid reader, and anyone would be lucky to have her on their team in a trivia competition. Amy loved any reason to gather people together from all walks of her life. She enjoyed hosting parties of all kinds, whether it be football Sundays, holiday cookie parties, pool parties, wine tastings, Christmas, Easter, or Thanksgiving.
Amy was an ardent animal lover, especially canines. She will be very much missed by her 2 rescue dogs, “Ellie” and “Sam-a-lama ding dong”. She is now with her beloved rescue “Boozer”, who ate his way to heaven several years ago.
Friends may greet the family at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Ave, Norwalk.on Friday March 18th from 4-8 pm A memorial service will also be held at Collins on Saturday March 19, 2022, at 11am. Those wishing to join us for a nearby gathering to celebrate Amy’s life may do so immediately after the service.
Entombment will be held privately at Willowbrook Cemetery, 395 Main Street, Westport.
