GREENWICH, CONN
Gilberte Agosti Ross, 94 of Greenwich, the beloved wife of the late David Campbell Ross, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 18, 2023. She was born in Cagnes-sur-Mer, France to the late Marguerite Maria Naef and Zefferino Agosti. She came to the United States in March 1954 via New York, on the ship Liberté, upon which she met her future husband whom she married later that year. She became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 1990.
She grew up in the foothills of Cannes, France during the occupation in World War II. She was schooled in business administration in England and in France. She worked as a bilingual secretary and as an office manager over a long career, including for Citroën, Vicks, and retired from Rodier Paris.
Gilberte was a proud and active member of the Alliance Française of Greenwich for many years with many international interests a love of travel. She was a 48-year homeowner in Greenwich and enjoyed all the town had to offer in the community and gave back to her friends and family as often as she could with conviction. Her favorite hobbies were French antiques, real estate, sewing projects, and crossword puzzles.
Gilberte is survived by her loving daughters, Claudia Ross Beinstein of Fairfield and Montine Ross and her husband, Albert Reis of Rhode Island. She will also be missed by her grandchildren, Nicole, Aaron and Evan Beinstein, Pontus and Paul Wormuth, and great grandchildren, Oscar and Aleksander Wormuth, and Montgomery Ross. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her loving stepdaughter, Margaret “Peggy” Wormuth, and her husband, Gus.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 28, 2023 at 11 a.m. at the Shaughnessey Banks Funeral Home, 50 Reef Rd. in Fairfield. Friends may greet her family one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Willowbrook Cemetery in Westport.
