WESTON, CONN Jean Wanat, aged 78, beloved wife of John G. Wanat Sr (Deceased) of 47 years, died Wednesday, August 28, 2024. She was a lifetime resident of Westport, Jean was a retired owner and operator of Westport Electric, along with her husband. She was the daughter of the late Peter Sr. and Jennie Palmer and she is predeceased by her brothers Phil Palmer, Carlo Palmer and his wife Ann Marie, Peter Palmer Jr. and her Sister in law Arlene Wanat, Brothers in law William Wanat and George Wanat. Jean will be fondly remembered for her sense of humor and zest for life. She is survived by her son John Wanat Jr and his wife Sharon, grandchildren, Scott, Jamie and Aryn, her daughter Jeanmarie Wanat and her partner Ed Mackowski and his two children Shelby and Eric, her brother Tony Palmer and his wife Susan, her sisters-in law Rosaland Palmer and Judy Wanat, and many nieces and nephews. She was "Grandma" to many and greatly loved. She was a lifetime member of Assumption Church in Westport and participated in many festivals throughout the years. Friends are invited to attend funeral services at Assumption Church, 98 Riverside Avenue, Westport CT 06880 on September 3rd, Tuesday 10 a.m., followed by committal services in Willowbrook Cemetery in Westport. Contributions may be made in Jean's memory to Assumption Church in Westport or Connecticut Human Society. The Harding's of Westport is directing the arrangements.
