WESTPORT, CONN
Patria Lucy Lynk Swann, age 79, of Westport, beloved wife of the late Peter Stuart Swann, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2024. Born in New York City, the daughter of the late Myles V. Lynk, II and Doris Sheafé Lynk, Patria received her B.A. degree from Fisk University in Nashville, TN, which also was her father's alma mater. Patria and Peter supported the Sickle Cell Disease Foundation of Greater New York for many years, continuing the efforts of her mother, for whom the Foundation's Doris Lynk Volunteer of the Year Award was named.
Patria and Peter were Westport residents for over fifty years. Patria was a longtime member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Southport, where she served on the Altar Guild and volunteered for many other church events. She and Peter were active Westport community volunteers, giving their time and support to Save Westport Now and Friends of the Westport Library. Patria was an active member of the Westport Woman's Club and of the Club's Gourmet Group and was a catalyst for the Club's annual Canal Park luncheon. Patria and Peter are also warmly remembered for their contributions to Westport's Yankee Doodle Fair, and Patria demonstrated her artistic and creative skills as a member of the Embroiders' Guild of America, Fairfield County Chapter, for many years.
Patria is survived by her brother, Myles V. Lynk, III, and her sister-in-law, Julie, of Buckeye, AZ, and their two daughters, her nieces Doris Lynk and Florence (Beth) Lynk; a dear cousin, Lawrence E. Tuttle and his wife Betsy of Monson, MA; a nephew Kevin Swann, and nieces Kim Braswell and Kerry Zeilinger; and her dear friends Carol Goetz and Kimberly Reichert. Patria was predeceased by her sister, Marguerite Therese Lynk, and brother-in-law Sherwood Swann.
A graveside service will be held on January 3, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Willowbrook Cemetery, 395 Main Street, Westport. The family intends to schedule a celebration of life service at the Trinity Episcopal Church in the Spring.
